What is Spencer Badu?

Resolute to drive a post-gender revolution, Toronto-based Spencer Badu founded his  eponymous label during his freshman year of college. Experimenting with clothing design, Badu taught himself the art of patternmaking and needlework before enrolling in design school, a move that would galvanize the formation of his unisex ready-to-wear fashion label. A devotee of the Bauhaus movement, Badu takes a less-is-more approach to design, crafting ultramodern with subtle yet salient intricacies. Challenging society’s expectations of gendered clothing, the label’s collections are shaped to propagate liberty. Notes of masculinity and femininity are organically fused, large in black and white colorways, to elevate trousers with zippered details, convertible coats with inventive dimensions, cropped t-shirts and sweatshirts, and daringly cut shirts. The brand’s garments are meant to hang in a wardrobe that can be shared by lovers and friends alike. 

A nonconformist by nature, Badu’s creative force is driven by a need to express his point of view through tailoring the gender-free world he wants to inhabit. Spencer Badu exists to challenge. The brand’s ethos challenges the socio-cultural norms of gender and the fashion industry. Spencer Badu is informed by - and thereby supports - Black culture, Black History, and Black progression from a futuristic and utopian context.

What pieces do you sell?

We currently run a Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer mainline and core collection which varies from season to season - our pieces include outerwear & coats, jackets, t-shirts & sweatshirts, knitwear, tops & shirts, dresses, pants, denim, and accessories. Our pieces are available internationally at spencerbadu.com, as well as online at SSENSE , NORDSTROM , HTOWN and OKI-NI 

Are your products and packaging sustainable?

Each of our pieces are made as sustainably as possible; with 90% of the pieces Made in Canada. These pieces are intended to last a long time so we suggest dry cleaning or hand-washing to preserve the life of your garments.

All Spencer Badu packaging is sustainable.

RETURNS & EXCHANGES

What payment forms do you accept?

We accept all major Credit Cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover), Apple Pay, ShopPay, and Paypal.

Do you accept gift cards?

No, we do accept gift cards as a form of payment at this time. If you’d like us to offer gift cards, please leave feedback here.

Do you offer any referral discounts or programs?

At this time, we do not offer a referral program or referral discount. 

Where do you ship your products?

We currently ship our pieces internationally.

What are my options for shipping?

We offer 2 national shipping options: Expedited Parcel (up to 1-7 business days) and Xpresspost (up to 1-2 business days). We offer First-Class International (varies by destination), Priority Mail International (6-10 business days), and Priority Mail Express International (3-5 business days). We currently offer DHL International for global shipments.

How long does it take for my package to be delivered?

Once you place your order, please allow 1-2 business days for processing. Your package will arrive within 3-7 business days of being processed. Please note that internationally shipments may take slightly longer to arrive (about 7-10 business days).

I want to cancel or edit my order.

If you need to edit or cancel your order, you may do so within the first hour of ordering directly via the confirmation email. If you cannot locate your confirmation email or if your order is outside of the one hour window, please contact info@spencerbadu.com. 

How can I check the status of my order?

Upon shipment of your package, you will receive an email containing your package shipment information and a link to track the package.

What is your return and refund policy?

To return a purchase, your item(s) must meet the following criteria:

• Be returned within 7 days of your delivery date
• Be in its original, unused, unaltered and unwashed condition
• Be returned with original tags and packaging

Spencer Badu reserves the right to reject returns which do not comply with our return policy.

Returns that fail to comply with our policy may be sent back to the original shipping address at our discretion.

What is your exchange policy?

If you need to edit, you may do so within the first hour of ordering directly via the confirmation email. If you are exchanging an item in its original, unused, unaltered and unwashed condition, feel free to contact us to exchange an item for equal or lesser value. 

Once your item(s) have been returned you must allow 5-7 working days for your original payment method to be reimbursed. Once your refund has been processed, you will receive confirmation to the email address provided when checking out. Your bank may require extra time to process the refund onto your account.

What material is the Tank Top made of?

The Tank Top is 100% Bamboo. Hand wash recommended. 

Where are your products produced?

Most of our garments are made in Canada with fabric sourced all around the world. We work with rescue fabric sourced from old mills and companies – reducing waste and pollutants from freight.
